What to expect before and during your notary appointment

California law requires the notary to witness the actual signing of the document. If you sign before the notary arrives the document cannot be notarized and you will need to obtain a new unsigned copy.

Yes. Multiple signers can be notarized at the same appointment as long as each person has a valid photo ID and is present for their own signing.
We do our best to accommodate same-day and urgent requests based on availability. Contact us as early as possible and we will do everything we can to fit you in.
Yes. We offer flexible scheduling including evenings and weekends because important documents do not wait for business hours.

We require advance notice for cancellations. Same-day cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to a fee due to reserved time and travel.

California law requires a valid unexpired government-issued photo ID. Accepted forms include:

We can notarize most documents but there are some exceptions. We cannot notarize documents that are incomplete, illegible or lack a notarial certificate. We also cannot notarize vital records such as birth, death or marriage certificates — those require a certified copy from the issuing agency. Yes a notary can notarize a document in a foreign language as long as the notarial certificate itself is in English and the signer understands what they are signing. If you also need the document translated ask about our Translation Services.
Yes. We provide compassionate mobile notary services at hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities and hospice centers throughout the Bay Area. The signer must be coherent and able to sign or make their mark. Contact us as soon as possible for urgent hospital notary requests.

Yes. California law requires that the signer be of sound mind and able to communicate their wishes in order for a document to be legally notarized. If there is any question about the patient's mental capacity please consult with the attending physician or nursing staff before scheduling the appointment. We are not able to notarize documents for individuals who are unable to understand what they are signing.
Family members or medical staff may be present during the appointment. However they cannot sign on behalf of the patient unless proper legal authority such as a power of attorney has already been established.

Yes. A valid government-issued photo ID is required. Most correctional facilities maintain ID records for incarcerated individuals so this is usually not a problem. Contact us if you have concerns about ID availability.
Family members or attorneys may help coordinate the visit but are typically not present during the notarization itself. Each facility has different rules so we encourage you to contact the facility directly to confirm their specific procedures.

Jail notary visits are a flat fee of $150 for the first hour. This fee applies regardless of whether the signing is completed including if the incarcerated individual refuses to sign after we have arrived at the facility. In addition, the fee applies regardless of the type of service required whether the document requires full notarization or only a witness signature. Additional time beyond the first hour is billed at $25 per hour. Travel fees may apply for locations outside our standard service area. Contact us for a personalized quote.
We recommend scheduling as far in advance as possible to allow time to coordinate with the facility. Some facilities require advance notice of 24 to 48 hours or more before allowing a notary visit. Contact us as soon as you know a notarization is needed so we can begin coordinating right away.
Our jail visit fee of $150 for the first hour applies regardless of the type of service required whether the document requires full notarization or only a witness signature.

LDE Ink Notary Services LLC coordinates professional document translation services. We work with a qualified professional translator to handle your document and then notarize the translator's certification statement giving your translated documents the official legal standing they need for government agencies, courts and other institutions.
A certified translation is a translated document accompanied by a signed statement from the translator certifying that the translation is accurate and complete. When that certification is notarized by a commissioned Notary Public it adds an additional layer of legal authentication confirming that the translator's signature is genuine. Many agencies including USCIS, federal and state courts, universities and foreign consulates require certified notarized translations for official use.
